The government’s talks with the municipal workers, who have been on strike for two weeks, have failed. With this, the government once again called the municipal labor unions for negotiations.
6,000 will be added to the salary by the government
Three days ago, the negotiations undertaken by the AP government with the municipal labor unions failed. Minister Botsa Satyanarayana and Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy held a meeting with the leaders of labor unions at the Secretariat. The demands of the municipal workers were discussed with the labor unions for more than three hours. Education Minister Botsa Satyanarayana said that all the demands of the municipal labor unions have been accepted. He said that the government has agreed to give a health allowance of Rs.6 thousand along with the salary. It has been proposed that the whole salary will be given without the name of health allowance. It has been revealed that the compensation amount will be paid to the workers as per the court order. They promised to increase the compensation from Rs.5 lakh to Rs.7 lakh for those who died in the line of duty. Botsa Satyanarayana asked the municipal workers to join their duties immediately. Government has decided to give health allowance to municipal workers. Salary includes health allowance of Rs. AP government has promised to give 21 thousand.
The labor unions say that they have to give 24 thousand
The leaders of the labor unions clarified that the government has not decided on the main issues. Unions are protesting the linking of health allowance with salary. They are angry about regularization of permanent and contract workers and no response from the government on equal pay for equal work. Therefore, the leaders of the labor unions said that they will continue the strike. The municipal labor unions rejected the government’s proposal. The labor unions have demanded the state government to give Rs.24 thousand per month. With this, the strike is continuing across the state.
