A cabinet meeting was held yesterday in AP under the chairmanship of Chief Minister YS Jagan. Election notification may come earlier in this cabinet meeting. CM Jagan’s comment to be vigilant has increased the election heat in AP. If CM Jagan is preparing the party ranks to work as a 175 target, the opposition TDP is also working on increasing aggression. On the other hand, jumping and change of in-charges are in full swing.
2024 is the target of elections in AP. Politics in the state went to the next level when CM Jagan told the ministers that this time there is a possibility of scheduling the elections 20 days earlier than before. The election schedule for 2019 was released on March 10. Elections were held on April 11. Now if the schedule comes 20 days in advance as CM Jagan said, there is a possibility that the election schedule will be announced in the third week of February and the elections will be held in the third week of March. That is why the cadre was alerted. Jagan suggested that the ministers should consider the difficulties faced so far as one step and these few days as another step. Jagan directed the ministers to work hard as if the election is just now.
The AP government is taking all precautions in the sense that the election schedule may come 20 days earlier. The government has already announced the schedule to conduct the Inter and Class 10 exams in March itself, so that the students do not face any problems due to the elections. CM Jagan is already writing strategies keeping the elections in mind. A signal is being sent to the cadre where candidates need to be changed. Many ministers and MLAs have already changed their constituencies. In some places the in-charges have been changed.
YCP will announce candidates for all 175 seats by the end of this month. However, TDP leader Chandrababu has predicted that even if 151 people are replaced in YCP, defeat is certain this time. He expressed confidence that the TDP-Jana Sena government will be formed in the next election. Even if the schedule comes, there will be AP assembly elections along with the Lok Sabha elections. As announced by the EC, earlier the elections were held in AP in the second phase. The same convention is expected to continue this time as well. But before the notification came, the political ruckus started in AP.
