It has planned to run 1,600 bus services from Hyderabad before Sankranti and 1,500 bus services after Sankranti. However, in view of the current situation in Telangana, it is ready to run an additional thousand buses.
Buses to these areas
RTC is ready to run special buses from Hyderabad to AP in view of Sankranthi rush. RTC MD CH Dwaraka Tirumala Rao said that it has been decided to run additional special buses to provide better services to passengers on the occasion of Sankranti. He said that additional thousand bus services will be run from Hyderabad to Vijayawada, Guntur, Rajamahendravaram, Amalapuram, Kurnool, Anantapur, Tirupati, Nellore, Ongole, Cherala and Visakhapatnam. Also, the authorities are taking steps to run special RTC buses from Bangalore and Chennai to Tirupati, Nellore, Ongole, Guntur and Vijayawada. Apart from these, additional special buses will be run from Vijayawada to Kurnool, Anantapur and Tirupati.
Telangana free bus scheme joined to AP
Telangana RTC also runs special buses on the occasion of Sankranti every year. As part of the agreement between the two states, the services are operated by buses belonging to both states. But at present free travel in RTC buses is being implemented for women in Telangana. As a result, buses are crowded with women passengers beyond expectations. In this background, Telangana special bus services cannot run to different parts of Andhra Pradesh on Sankranti. APSRTC took advantage of this opportunity. It has been decided to run additional 1000 special bus services from Hyderabad to various parts of AP for the convenience of the people coming for the festival.
Yes, we reduced buses
TS RTC MD Sajjanar revealed that the number of buses to AP has been reduced this time due to the Mahalakshmi scheme. He said that 4,484 buses have been made available to passengers for Sankranti festival. More buses will be arranged depending on the passenger traffic. He said that under the Mahalakshmi scheme, women can also travel in special buses for free. He said that a special drive is being conducted with the RTA officials on private travels that are charging high charges. Not only from MGBS but also from Uppal, LB Nagar and JBS, special buses are running.
Already 6700 buses
In addition to regular RTC services, 6,700 special buses have been made available for those going home for Sankranti. For this, special buses have been started from various parts of the state, including Hyderabad, Chennai and Bangalore from Saturday. Before Sankranti, 3,570 buses are running from 6th to 14th of this month and 3,225 buses are running from 16th to 18th of this month for return journeys. Officials explained that advance reservations have already been completed for regular services between 10th to 13th of this month and special services are being made available on those routes.
It has been stated that the services will be increased according to the passenger traffic and supervisors will be made available at all the district centers and various points in Hyderabad to supervise the special buses. For information about these buses, if there are any problems, passengers can call the call center number 149 or 0866-2570005 at any time.
