TS Scholarships Application: The authorities have extended the application deadline for the renewal of scholarships, tuition fees and new students for the academic year 2023-24 in Telangana. The government has extended the deadline of December 31 by a month. SC Welfare Secretary Rahul Bojha on Saturday (December 30) directed that eligible SC, ST, BC, ABC, minority and disabled students should apply for scholarships by January 31. The receipt of scholarship applications for the academic year 2023-24 in the state began on August 19. This deadline will end on Sunday. According to ePass statistics, out of 8,04,304 renewal students, only 5.08 lakh have submitted their applications so far. Of the 5 lakh new admissions, only 1.82 lakh applied. In this context, the government has extended the application deadline.
It is known that the welfare department is accepting applications for subsidies and teaching fees for the academic year 2023-24 in Telangana. The application period will end on December 31. So far only 4 lakh students have applied for these. However, due to the delay in the admission process for professional courses, the SC Welfare Department has decided to extend the application deadline by another three months. To this extent, proposals have been sent to the government. Due to the positive response from the government, the application deadline has been extended till January 31.
CM Revanth Reddy has decided to review the arrears of teaching fees soon. To this extent, SC Welfare Department officials are preparing reports on subsidies. Out of the Rs.3250 crores to be paid for the academic year 2022-23, bills for Rs.1250 crores have been sent to the treasuries by the welfare departments, but not even a single rupee has been released till now. There is shortage of funds in BC, ABC and minority welfare departments. The demand for stipends and teaching fees for the year 2023-24 is estimated to be around Rs.2400 crores. If this amount is added, the arrears to be paid by next March will reach Rs.5650 crores.
No fees for two years..
Every year 12.50 lakh students apply for tuition fees and scholarships in the state. In the following year, the government has been paying tuition fees and stipends. Due to delayed payments after Corona, the arrears have increased hugely. Due to the government’s negligence, lakhs of students in the state have to wait for tuition fees and subsidies. Students are worried because the fees for welfare students have not been released for two years. For the SC, ST, BC, Minority and EBC students who have already completed their courses, they have to pay more than Rs. 3250 crore dues by the academic year 2022-23, including stipends and teaching fees. Due to the delay in the release of fees, the bills released by the welfare departments are pending in the treasuries, students have to take loans for higher education and job opportunities and have to pay fees in colleges and get certificates.
