2023 Telugu Disaster Movies: The year 2023 did not come well for Tollywood. If we rewind the past year, there have been more flops than hits. Despite a strong start with the Sankranti season, by the end of the Christmas season it had to end with a success rate of only five to six percent. Some small films that came without any expectations have become blockbuster hits and have brought profits to the producers. At the same time, the big films that came with huge expectations unexpectedly flopped at the box office.. leaving behind heavy losses. Now let’s see those movies that disappointed the audience this year.
In January, Santhosh Shobhan starrer ‘Kalyanam Kamaniyam’. Sudhir Babu’s ‘Hunt’ movies were flops. Along with Sandeep Kishan’s pan India movie ‘Michael’, Kalyan Ram’s ‘Amigos’ and Sitara Entertainment’s ‘Buttabomma’ were flops in February. Santosh bagged his second flop this year with the movie ‘Sridevi Shobhan Babu’. In March, Nagashaurya starrer ‘Phalana Boy Palana Tari’ and Krishnavamsi directed ‘Rangamarthanda’ were rejected by the audience.
And Ravanasura.. And Shakuntala…
It must be said that Tollywood has been hit with real disaster movies since April. After two back to back hits like ‘Dhamaka’ and ‘Waltheru Veeraiya’, Ravi Teja starrer ‘Ravanasura’ seemed to be the biggest disaster. The movie ‘Sakunthalam’ in which star heroine Samantha Ruth Prabhu played the title role was also an ultra disaster. If producer Dil Raju commented that this was the biggest jerk in his career, then you can understand how big a failure this movie was. In the middle, Kiran Abbavaram tasted defeat with ‘Meter’.
Disappointed Akkineni brothers…
If Akkineni Akhil received a huge flop with the movie ‘Agent’ this year, his brother Naga Chaitanya disappointed with the movie ‘Custody’. Gopichand’s movie ‘Ramabanam’ has also been included in the list of disasters. ‘All Good Omens’ could not give success to Santosh Shobhan. Movies like Ahimsa, Nenu Student Sir, Tucker came and went. The movie ‘Adipurush’ starring Prabhas has become one of the big flops of this year. This movie, which was released amid many controversies and court cases, was not liked at least by the darling fans.
‘Mega’ Plops…
Mega Menamama’s nephew Pawan Kalyan and Saidharam’s remake movie ‘Bro’ disappointed everyone. Chiranjeevi’s remake movie ‘Bhola Shankar’ became the biggest disaster. This seems to be an utter flop in the Megastar’s career. Varun Tej’s ‘Gandivadhari Arjuna’ also entered the list of flops. Vaishnav Tej’s movie ‘Adikesava’ gave a flop. After ‘Kartikeya 2’, Nikhil starrer Pan India movie ‘Spy’ failed to impress. Nagashaurya’s ‘Rangabali’ and Sri Simha Koduri’s ‘Bhaag Sale’ were flops.
Scared Boyapati.. ‘Tiger’ who could not roar…
Boyapati Srinu-Ram Pothineni’s ‘Skanda’ movie not only flopped but also got trolled after it was released in OTT. The movie ‘Pedakapu 1’, which was announced as two parts before its release, was mis-fired. Sudheer Babu’s ‘Mamamashchindra’ and Kiran Abbavaram’s ‘Rules Ranjan’ continued the series of failures. Ravi Teja starrer pan India movie ‘Tiger Nageswara Rao’ has also entered the flop list. Nitin’s highly anticipated film ‘Extra Ordinary Man’ did not click at the box office. Having said that, there are more flops than hits this year. Let’s see if the success rate will double in Tollywood next year.
