After Congress came to power in Telangana, free bus facility was provided to women under the Mahalakshmi scheme. Due to this, many women prefer free bus travel. TSRTC has decided to purchase 1,050 new buses due to shortage of buses. Telangana RTC MD Sajjanar said this. It is explained that there are 512 Palle Luvam, 400 Express, 92 Lahari Push Back and 56 AC Rajdhani buses. He said that all these are diesel buses.
Along with these diesel buses, steps have been taken to make more electric buses available in Hyderabad and across Telangana. He said that plans are being made to bring 540 electric buses in Hyderabad city and 500 in all districts of Telangana. He said that these will be made available in installments. They said that their aim is to provide comfortable travel in all districts by March 2024. He said that from December 30, some modern buses will be available in the city. Out of total 80 diesel buses, 30 express, 30 Rajdhani AC and 20 Lahari push back buses are mentioned. Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar said that they will be flagged off.
Since free bus facility was provided to women, steps have been taken to ensure that there is no inconvenience to the passengers. At the time when it came to their attention that the passengers were facing difficulties in arrival of buses on time in some areas, new buses were priced at Rs. He said that he decided to spend 400 crores and bring it into use.
