The countdown to the Indian Premier League 2024 mini auction has begun. The IPL bidding will be held on Tuesday (December 19) at the Coca Cola Arena in Dubai. A total of 333 players including Indian and foreign players will test their luck in this auction. There are 214 players from India and 119 cricketers from abroad. Meanwhile, a day before the auction, an interesting news came to light. According to a Cricbuzz report, Mallika Sagar will also be a part of the IPL 2024 Mini Auction in Dubai. With this, Mallika will be recognized as the first woman auctioneer to conduct the IPL auction in the 16-year history of IPL. Mallika Sagar has previously participated in the Women’s Premier League auction. Mallika conducted Kabaddi Premier League auctions along with WPL-2023 and 2024 seasons. Now with the experience, I want to organize the IPL action together. “Professional auctioneer Mallika Sagar will conduct the IPL mini auction this time,” BCCI informed the franchises.
From 2008 to 2018 when the IPL started, Richard Madley conducted the auction process of the players. After that till 2023 Hugh Edwards acted as IPL auctioneer. During the 2022 mega auction, Edmiades was hospitalized due to a medical emergency in the middle of the auction. With this Charu Sharma from India continued the auction process. Now Mallika Sagar will handle those responsibilities. An art collector from Mumbai, Mallika specializes in modern and contemporary Indian art. She also has the experience of conducting auctions at the famous Pandoli Art Galleries in Mumbai. At the age of 26, she conducted the auction process for the first time. It is remarkable that Mallikan was the first person to conduct the auction process of contemporary Indian art.
