Adilabad District Collector: District Collector Rahul Raj advised the officials to take measures to prevent the youth and people from getting affected by drugs in Adilabad district. On Saturday, in the collectorate meeting hall, the district level officials discussed the measures to be taken to prevent the cultivation and use of cannabis and the consumption of drugs. On this occasion, District Collector Rahul Raj said that cases will be registered against those who grow narcotic ganja and action will be taken to prevent government schemes like Rythu Bandhu. He said that special awareness seminars should be organized in colleges and schools so that the youth do not get affected by intoxicants.
People from all over Adilabad district will be made aware of the misfortunes that will happen if they are deceived by the words of farmers and brokers and grow ganja. District Police Department and Agriculture Department have been ordered to create awareness in coordination. If there are youths and people who are already addicted to drugs, they are advised to use them as there is a possibility of treatment through de-addiction center.
On this occasion, District SP D. Uday Kumar Reddy said that PD Act cases are going to be registered against ganja smugglers soon. He informed that special police teams have been formed in the district to control the ganja sellers and growers. Counseling is also being conducted for the parents of people addicted to ganja. In this meeting specially prepared posters were unveiled in the presence of district officials to achieve a cannabis free society.
In the last six months, 38 people were arrested who were cultivating ganja in the district, 20 cases were registered against them and 133 kg of ganja was seized and 275 ganja plants were also seized and destroyed. Police, Excise Department officials and others participated in this meeting. If anyone is cultivating cannabis, they are advised to inform the police.
