Uttam Kumar Reddy Review: Government has taken steps to issue new ration cards in Telangana. It has decided to receive applications from those who want new ration cards soon. Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy said that the newly elected Congress government will frame the procedures for this. The Minister of Water Drainage and Civil Supplies Uttam Kumar Reddy held a review meeting with the senior officials of the Civil Supplies Department at the Secretariat. Along with the issue of new ration cards, the minister had a long discussion with the officials on the existing ration cards as well.
Discussions were held with the authorities on whether to keep or remove cards that have not taken ration for a few months. The minister ordered the government to take steps to ensure that the cards are given to those who are actually eligible. Debates continued over who would be eligible for the new cards. The Minister ordered to take measures to ensure that welfare schemes and ration cards are not linked. The government is thinking that if the ration card is linked to the welfare schemes, the number of cards will increase. The income limit for issuance of new cards is likely to be clarified this week. Discussion on Rs.500 k cooking gas
As part of the promises made by the Congress government in Telangana, Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy also discussed the issue of giving a cooking gas cylinder for Rs.500 under the Mahalakmi scheme. The issue of grain collection from farmers, supply of quality rice to ration beneficiaries was also discussed once again. Principal Secretary of Finance Department Ramakrishna Rao and Civil Supply Commissioner Anil Kumar participated in this meeting.
