India vs England, 3rd Test: India opener Yashaswi Jaiswal became the third youngest batsman to score double centuries in two Tests in the third Test against England at Rajkot on Sunday. The Mumbai left-arm opener, who scored his first 200 runs against England earlier in the series, joins India’s Vinod Kambli and Australian legend Don Bradman in this elite list.
Jaiswal reached the milestone with a single to the cover region off off-spinner Joe Root. With this, Kambi also became the third Indian after Virat Kohli to score 200 in consecutive Tests. The 22-year-old impressed with his best performance against England. The left-hander smashed a record 12 sixes in the innings.
Kambli became the youngest player to score two double centuries when he crossed the 200-run mark against Zimbabwe in Delhi in 1993. He did the same 22 days later against England at Wankhede.
Bradman achieved this feat in 1930 with consecutive double centuries against England in a span of 14 days. He scored another 200 runs against England again 36 days later.
