The state government has made arrangements in Medaram for the convenience of the devotees on the occasion of Saralamma Jatara, the largest tribal fair gathering in Asia. Moreover, Minister Sitakka inaugurated the TSRTC base camp set up for the devotees on Saturday. While the Medaram Jatara is being held from 21st to 24th of this month, in view of the rush of devotees, the organization is plying special buses for 8 days from Sunday to 25th of this month. Minister Sitakka along with the senior officials of RTC started the queue lines which were arranged so that the devotees returning to their destinations after visiting Ammavars can reach their respective destinations safely.
A temporary bus stand in an area of 55 acres
Speaking on the occasion, Minister Seethakka said that keeping in mind the rush of devotees coming to the Medaram Sammakka Saralamma Jatara, the officials under the leadership of Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar and RTC MD VC Sajjan have made elaborate arrangements. Jatara said that a base camp with a temporary bus stand has been set up in an area of 55 acres. Moreover, it was explained that 50 queue lines have been constructed in the base camp with a length of 7 km.
6 thousand special buses
He said that the company is running 6000 special buses to bring the devotees safely to their destinations. He said that around 15 thousand RTC staff are working for the fair.. Enough rest rooms have been arranged for the staff.
Free bus facility
Minister Sitakka said that as part of the Mahalakshmi scheme in force in the state, free bus travel facility for women is in place for Medaram Jatara. Women can visit Sammakka and Saralamma without spending a penny. However, the passengers coming to the fair by buses appealed to the RTC staff to cooperate. Minister Sitakka showered praises on RTC employees and officials for working with commitment and regular training without causing any trouble to the devotees coming to the fair.
