ICC Cricketer of The Year: India’s star batsman Virat Kohli and top all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja have been nominated for the International Cricket Council (ICC) Best Male Cricketer of the Year. Meanwhile, veteran off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin was nominated for the Test Cricketer of the Year. Kohli and Jadeja will face a challenge from Australian captain Pat Cummins and his teammate Travis Head for the Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy.
Along with Ashwin, Head, his Australian teammate Usman Khawaja, England’s senior batsman Joe Root has also been nominated for Test Cricketer of the Year, the ICC said on Friday. Kohli scored 2048 runs in 35 matches in Tests and ODIs in 2023. This includes his 50th ODI century in the World Cup. Surpassing legendary batsman Sachin Tendulkar.
Jadeja not only scored 613 runs in 35 matches but also took 66 wickets. He took 22 wickets against Australia in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy earlier last year.
Pat Cummins scored 422 runs and took 59 wickets in 24 matches. Under his leadership, Australia won the Ashes, World Test Championship (WTC) final, ODI World Cup title.
