A gang from the state of Gujarat ordered 107 iPhones on WhatsApp and started a huge fraud. Believing this to be true, Jagdish, a market trader, ordered a total of 107 iPhones. The gang devised a strategy to pay the money after all the iPhones were delivered.. They sent a message on WhatsApp to Jagadish, a market trader, saying that the mobile phones should be sent to Gujarat. Jagdish made an agreement with the market trader that they would make the payment only after receiving all the mobiles. Jagadish market trader delivered all the mobile phones to Gujarat saying that this is true.
After sending the mobile phones, the people from Gujarat who promised to give money after delivery made a payment of five lakhs first. However, Jagdish convinced the market trader that the rest of the money would be paid based on the Ellar number. The Jagadish market trader tried to contact the Gujarat-based gang several times after being told that they would pay based on the LR number. But Jagadish market trader Abids lodged a complaint with the police after he did not receive the money no matter how much he approached. Abids police registered the case and left for Gujarat based on the delivery address given by the accused. A special police team reached Surat in Gujarat and arrested the accused who were involved in this fraud.
Among them Vipul alias Vijay who is the key mastermind is absconding. Nirav Raj was detained by the police. Abids police seized 102 iPhones worth Rs 64 lakh from him. Police investigation revealed that out of the total 107 phones, 5 phones were sold by the accused. But the police are trying to get the details of who sold it to whom. It is reported that Abids police have identified the role of some other accused behind this. The Central Zone DCP clarified that Abids police have already settled in many parts of Gujarat for them.
