Team India took blow after blow. They took revenge against South Africa, who were beaten badly in the first test. The Indian team defeated the host team by 7 wickets in the second Test which ended in less than two days at the Cape Town venue. So Rohit Sena leveled the two Test series. Rohit Sena smashed the target of 79 runs set by South Africa in the second innings by losing 3 wickets. Yashaswi Jaiswal (28), Subhaman Gill (10), Virat Kohli (12) got out while captain Rohit Sharma (17) and Shreyas Iyer (4) completed the rest. This is the first time that the Indian team has won a Test match at this ground. With this win, Rohit became the second captain after Dhoni to not lose a series on safari soil. Bowling first in this match, the Indian team bowled South Africa out for just 55 runs. After that, in the first innings, Team India was bowled out for 153 runs. Virat Kohli scored 46 runs and Rohit Sharma scored 39 runs. However In the first innings, even though Team India got a lead of 98 runs, Rohit Sena recorded the worst record in his innings as well. Team India lost their last 6 wickets without scoring any runs in this innings.
And in the second innings, Aiden Markram scored a wonderful century and stood by the team. After taking 6 wickets in the first innings, Jasprit Bumrah also took 6 wickets in the second innings. Bumrah’s super spell saw South Africa bowled out for 176 in the second innings. With this, Team India needed a narrow victory target of 79 runs. In India’s second innings, Yashaswi Jaiswal and Rohit Sharma started batting strongly. Yashaswi Jaiswal was out for 23 runs, Shubman Gill was also out for 10 runs and Virat Kohli was out for 12 runs. Captain Rohit Sharma stayed till the end and led Team India to victory.
First win at Cape Town ground
This is India’s fifth Test victory on South African soil, while this is the first time that Team India has won on Cape Town soil. This is South Africa’s third defeat on this soil in the last ten years.
