In Telangana finally the line is cleared for constable jobs. High Court has given green signal to fill 15,640 constable posts in the state. Hitherto the hurdle of filling constable posts has been removed. The Division Bench of the High Court struck down the judgment given by the Single Bench. With this, the recruitment process will go ahead.
It is known that the single bench has ordered to combine the marks of four questions in the examination conducted for civil constable candidates in the state. The High Court Bench has issued its latest judgment striking down those orders. The High Court directed the Police Recruitment Board to form an expert committee with the help of Osmania University. It has been clarified that the expert committee should decide on the four objectionable questions.
Some candidates have filed a petition in the High Court that they have suffered loss due to not giving options in Telugu for the four questions in the constable examination. The Division Bench of the High Court set aside the verdict given by the Single Bench as part of the investigation. The Police Recruitment Board brought to the notice of the bench that the options for the four questions raised by the candidates were given in the words in use. After hearing the arguments, the Division Bench of the High Courts directed the appointment process to be completed after the expert committee decided the objections raised by the candidates on those questions. The High Court directed the Police Recruitment Board to complete the constable recruitment process within four weeks.
The controversy is here..
State High Court has put brakes on constable recruitment in Telangana. It is known that orders have been issued to remove 4 questions from the final exam. All four marks were ordered to be published. The High Court directed the State Police Recruitment Board to conduct constable recruitment only after this process. It ordered that questions 122, 130, 144 were not translated into Telugu and question 57 was wrong as they were deleted from the question paper. Several petitions were filed in the High Court on August 30, 2022, raising objections to about 23 questions.
Police Recruitment Board (TSLPRB) has released the list of selected candidates for constable posts on October 4. In a statement, TSLPRB said that 15,750 people have been selected for 16,604 posts in various departments of the police department. The board said that the results for many posts have not been released due to court cases. It has been clarified that the results for 100 driver posts in PTO, 225 posts in disaster management and fire department (TS Police Constable Results) have not been released due to court cases.
On the other hand, there are 12,866 men and 2,884 women in the list of selected candidates post-wise. The board clarified that the complete details of the selected candidates will be made available on the website from October 5.
New conflicts in recruitment process
New conflicts are arising in the process of recruitment of police jobs in Telangana. There are allegations that injustice has been done to the poor and weaker sections in filling the posts of SI and Constable. It seems that the reason for this is that the cutoff marks of EWS candidates are much lower than the cutoff marks of BC, SC, ST female candidates.
Last year, the Police Recruitment Board released a notification for 587 sub-inspector and 16,604 constable posts vacant in Telangana police department. Lakhs of youth competed for these jobs. By the time the notification was released, there were cases in the courts on EWS reservation. As a result, the board said that EWS reservations will not apply to this notification.
