Ratlawat Shankarnaik hails from Nagarlabanda Tanda, Tumukunta village, Nagarkarnool district. Although this is the real name… there are many nicknames. He went by many names like Rajesh Reddy, Ranga Rao, Ilyaz Khan… He completed BPharmacy in 2012 from Erravalli, Gadwal district. He was arrested by the Gadwal police in a case of attempted murder and sent to jail. Shankarnaik met a thief in jail. Maybe he learned how to commit thefts from him…after coming out of prison…he committed a series of thefts. He was addicted to marijuana and alcohol. Duralavads used to steal whenever they needed money. He used to target locked houses and steal valuables and gold ornaments. He used to pledge the stolen money and sell it.
Moreover… this thief also has another characteristic. He used to be affectionate with the same men. He craves their intimacy. Shankar Naik is the one who goes to great lengths for the men who are with him. He would do anything to make them happy. It was enough that they needed money… He was eyeing a house that day. He used to steal cash and jewelry and give them away in seconds. Accused Shankar Naik has committed a series of thefts in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. He is the most wanted thief in many police stations in AP and Telangana.
Shankarnaik… not without being fixed somewhere. He used to run away from the police. He used to stay in big lodges and five star hotels. Moreover, the police said that Kastli used to wear clothes and sandals. Even when he was caught by the police, Shankar Nayak was wearing sandals worth Rs 5,000 and branded clothes worth Rs 11,000.
Shankar Naik also had another strange habit. In stolen houses… he used to write down how much was stolen and put it there. That’s because… he had robbed a house in the past. The owners of the house complained to the police that the jewelry that was thrown there was 10 tolas, but 20 tolas were lost. When Shankarnaik was caught by the police, he said that he had stolen 10 talas, but the police did not believe him. That’s why he got into the habit of writing notes after that. In the burglarized house.. he used to write a note detailing the cash and jewelery stolen from the house and keep it there. He also used to write details in his diary. When he was caught by the police, Shankarnaik tried to convince the police by looking at the diary.
In the morning.. roaming around the colonies… he would notice locked houses. He targeted the houses he wanted to steal. Police say that he used to go with an iron rod at night and break the lock of the house and steal. He used to enter the field again when he ran out of looted money. The Hyderabad OU Police have increased their vigilance on him as he has recently been involved in a series of thefts.
Three months ago, Shankarnaik had stolen from the house of a person named Lagishetti Raju in Habsiguda under OU. He stole 19.1 heads of gold, US dollars and some cash. On the complaint of the victim, OU police registered a case and started investigation. The CCTV footage was examined. After confirming that Shankarnayake had committed the theft, surveillance was increased. Shankarnaik who was roaming suspiciously in Ameerpet was arrested. Jewelery worth Rs 13 lakh 50 thousand, bikes and three phones were seized from him. Cash pledge receipts were seized from several private finance companies and gold shops in Kolhapur, Vijayawada and SR Nagar. The police said that they will seize the gold ornaments.
