If we talk about Shubman Gill’s last 6 Test innings, he did not touch the 30-run mark. In these six innings, Gill played third in the last four innings. However, he failed to play as an opener in two innings. Gill has scored 13, 18, 06, 10, 29*, 2 runs in the last 6 Test innings. He scored 13 and 18 runs as an opener. He played at number three in the remaining four innings.
Gill started playing at third position from the tour of West Indies in 2023. Yashaswi Jaiswal made his Test debut during the West Indies tour. Now it remains to be seen whether Gill will be used as an opener once again given his poor numbers.

Gill made his debut against Australia in December 2020. Since then he has played 18 Tests. In these matches he scored 966 runs in 33 innings at an average of 32.20. During this period he scored 2 centuries and 4 fifties.
