The incident of two students caught selling ganja in Ongole has created a stir. It has been found that the engineering students are involved in the illegal business of buying, supplying and selling cannabis. Four students staying in a lodge are targeting other students and selling ganja in parcels. Door delivery is also done if required. The SEB officials who received the information sent the Trainee Assistant Excise Superintendent to buy ganja under the guise of a student and attacked him. Two of the four students escaped, while two others were arrested and 1.50 lakh worth of ganja was seized. Disturbing things came to light during the inquiry of SEB officials. It is disconcerting to find that students play a key role in this entire cannabis network.
Students of Karma-Karta-Kriya..
Cannabis is growing in Ongole. Along with the workers, addicts and students studying higher studies here and there are also consuming ganja… When SEB officials raided a lodge to monitor the sale of ganja, disturbing things came to light… It was found that the students are doing all the buying, selling and supplying of ganja. Four engineering students formed a team and settled in a lodge in Ongole and found that for the past few years they have been illegally selling ganja. Yalamanda Residency on 60 feet road, which is busy with hospitals in the city, was the venue of this ganja gang. They take a room here and sell marijuana from there.
Students are the target..
The SEB officials received definite information about the sale of ganja at Yalamanda Residency Lodge in Ongolu. But to buy from them, contact is mandatory. So, to attack them, someone has to send a student. They thought that if they send it like that, the student will not have trouble in the future. As the Assistant Excise Superintendent who came to them for training was too young, he was sent to the lodge in the guise of an engineering student. He introduced himself as an engineering student by talking to the ganja sellers there and somehow bought ten grams of ganja for 500 rupees. As their prediction was proved to be correct, SEB CI Latha immediately raided the staff lodge and arrested Dorepalli Pawan from Vijayawada and Lal Shyam from Ongole who were selling ganja. They seized 2.820 kg of ganja, bike and electronic kata worth one lakh and fifty thousand rupees from them. Two other accused are absconding. The details given by the accused in the investigation are shocking. Both Pawan from Vijayawada and Lalshyam from Ongole were classmates while studying in a private engineering college in Ongole. Both of them planned to get addicted to ganja and then they can earn money by buying and selling ganja. Among them, Pawan used to go to Orissa and from there bring ganjain per kg to Ongole. Here in the lodge they are selling packets of ten grams and twenty grams for 500 and 1000 rupees each. It is also sold only to inter students, engineering students and students studying in other colleges. Door delivery is also available if needed. Ongolu SEB officer Sridhar said that some of them were employed as part-time employees in various delivery companies and while doing that job, they were also found to be delivering ganja at the door.
Parental supervision should be…
Lack of parental supervision over their children appears to be one of the reasons behind parents’ lack of information regarding the use of marijuana by many students in Ongole. The SEB investigation learned that some of the engineering students who were consuming ganja were consuming ganja for the last four years but their parents could not buy it… Recently, there were allegations that some MBBS students were intoxicated with ganja and alcohol at Rims Medical College in Ongole. But the SEB officials did not think in that direction as there were doubts whether ganja was used here or not. Who is buying from them with the information given by two recently arrested engineering students. They focused on who was selling ganja to them in Orissa.
