Team India’s fast bowler Arshdeep Singh bowled brilliantly and took 5 wickets in the first ODI against South Africa at Johannesburg on Sunday (December 17). So the left arm seamer played a key role in the success of Team India. This is the first time for Arshdeep Singh to take five wickets in his career. Also, Arshadeep became the only Indian fast bowler to take 5 wickets in an ODI match against South Africa. In this match, Arshadeep bowled 10 overs and scored 37 runs and took 5 wickets. In this match, Arshdeep Singh and Avesh Khan also bowled brilliantly and took 4 wickets. Arshadeep thus became the third Indian bowler to take 5 or more wickets in South Africa. In this match, South Africa won the toss and elected to bat first. But Arshadeep and Avesh wreaked havoc and thrashed the African batsmen.
Both the Indian bowlers bowled dangerously from the start and bowled out the entire African team for 116 runs. Arshadeep 5, Avesh Khan 4 and Kuldeep Yadav took 1 wicket for India. Later, India achieved this short target in just 17 overs by losing 2 wickets. Debutant Sai Sudarshan scored 55 runs and Shreyas Iyer scored 52 runs. Rahul Sena won the match by 8 wickets and took a 1-0 lead in the three ODI series. Arshdeep Singh who crushed South Africa with five wickets was awarded the player of the match award.
