Uranium Reserves Searching in AP: The Union Minister made a key statement on uranium reserves in AP. Union Atomic Energy Minister Jitendrasingh answered a question in the Rajya Sabha that 4 districts of the state are searching for Uranium ore. It has been revealed that YSR has taken up exploration for uranium ore in Kadapa, Annamayya, Palnadu and Kurnool districts. He said there are Nalgondavaripalle, Ambakapalle, Bakkannagari palle, Shivarampuram, Pincha, Kumarampalle and Nagayapalle in YSR district. Also Sarangapalle, Tangeda, Madinapadu in Palnadu district, Minakahal Padu, Kappatralla, Bommarajupalle in Kurnool district, Katamayakunta and Varikuntapalle in Annamaiya district, he said. Uranium Corporation of India has disclosed that efforts have been started on setting up new mines and plants at Kanampalle in Andhra Pradesh and Chitrial in Telangana. Recently, the Atomic Minerals Directorate for Exploration and Research (AMD) has mentioned that exploration has been done in these areas. Meanwhile, he said that the works of setting up the plants are in different stages. It was explained that in the exploration carried out by AMD in 11 states including AP and Telangana, 4.10 lakh tonnes of uranium reserves were found as of September this year. The Union Minister replied to Sant Balbir Singh’s question to this effect.
On the construction of that road
On the other hand, Union Road and Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari said that there are many obstacles facing the construction of 104 km road between Vijayawada and Gundugolan on National Highway – 16. He answered a question asked by YCP MP Lau Krishnadevaraya in the Rajya Sabha. It has been explained that the Central Road and Transport Department has taken up this project in 4 packages. He said that the works of package 1 and 2 have been completed so far, while the construction of Vijayawada bypass is involved in package 3 and 4. He said the delay was due to land acquisition, court cases, transfer of electricity and telephone lines.
