Review on Pending Irrigation Projects in Telangana: Bhatti Vikramarka questioned the officials as to why the Indira and Rajiv Sagar projects, which were undertaken at a cost of Rs 2400 crores during the Congress government, had to be increased to 13 thousand crores in the name of redesigning. Did the project increase the estimated cost of the additional budget? When asked, the officials replied that there was no increase. He said that it is wrong to misappropriate public wealth by increasing project expectations in the name of redesigning without increasing the Ayakattu. Irrigation officials explained through power point presentation after being ordered to tell the facts about the works done in Sitarama project till now.
State Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Irrigation Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy held a review meeting with irrigation officials on joint Nalgonda and Khammam district irrigation projects in Telangana State Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Chamber at the State Secretariat. He hotly discussed the progress of Sitarama project in joint Khammam district, Dindi, Udaya Samudra, Brahmana Pagamla, SLBC Tunnel, Nakkalagandi, Charla, reservoirs, Bunadi Gani Pilaipalli, Dharmareddy Palli closed canals in joint Nalgonda district.
Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka briefed the ministers about the completed barrage canals works, pending works, land acquisition to be done, court cases and permissions to be received from the central government since the inception of the project. Officials said that the environment clearance is yet to be obtained for the construction of the barrage, and it is likely to come in two months. The officials swallowed water without answering that what is the benefit of saying that the project is in progress after finishing the works at the last canals without completing the works near the head work. They reprimanded the officials by telling them not to hide the facts but to tell the facts. At the confluence of Sabari and Godavari rivers, ignoring the area that receives water through gravity for 365 days, redesigning it as Sitarama project and installing lift irrigation, the estimated cost has increased, but the officials have questioned whether water has been given to an additional acre for ten years. Officials said that if the previously designed Indira Sagar project was continued as usual, the works would have been completed so far and there would have been a chance of getting water, and the Indira Sagar project was designed correctly.
Irrigation Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy said that what will be the result if the last canals are completed without completing the head words. He said that the previous government had put a burden on the people by starting new projects costing thousands of crores by completely neglecting the irrigation projects which were completed at a cost of two to three hundred crore rupees. Irrigation department officials have ordered to divide the pending irrigation projects into four types. Projects to be completed within six months, projects to be completed within a year, projects to be completed within 18 months and projects to be completed within 24 months were identified and required budget estimates were made and reports were ordered to be submitted immediately. The tenders called before the elections in the Irrigation Department have been ordered to be stopped immediately and work allotments have also been stopped. For the repairs of the ponds and the construction of check dams, the officials were instructed to accept the recommendations from the MLA and work hard to grant the necessary funds for them. He expressed his displeasure that the previous government’s redesigning of the Sitarama project made it seem like it could not go back or move forward, saying that it was bad redesigning.
Ponguleti was angry with the authorities
Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy expressed his anger on the officials who did not give detailed details regarding the works of Sitarama project. He asked the officials about the phase wise works from the barrage head work to the final canal. EE was reprimanded for giving hesitant answers saying that you have no knowledge of what you are doing. The Ministers discussed each irrigation project in great depth. Similarly, the water reserves in the Nagarjuna Sagar reservoir were learned about their use. He ordered to take appropriate measures already so that drinking water does not face problems in summer.
