Anantapur Politics: As the assembly elections are approaching in the state, the political developments are changing rapidly. After the ruling party BRS in Telangana failed to allocate tickets to the sitting MLAs, the ruling party in Andhra Pradesh started a purge to change the positions of the opposition leaders. It goes without saying that already 50 MLAs of the party do not have tickets. Another 35 people are given an opportunity to contest from other places than their present place. Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy’s own party leaders are trying to reduce the opposition among the workers by changing the sittings. Six MLAs in the joint Anantapur district do not see any ticket chances in the upcoming elections. The discussion is going on whether tickets will be given to these six or whether they will contest from another seat. Looking at the current developments in the party, it seems that the issue of who can spend how much in the next election has also been considered. It seems that the party is in the process of changing some people based on the survey given by I-Pak that the chances of victory for the sittings are low.
Guntakallu MLA Venkatram Reddy has five members in his family. It is reported that the party is thinking of giving the Guntakal ticket to a different social group in the next election. However, MLA Venkatarami Reddy put his proposal before the headship to give ticket to his daughter Nairuti Reddy. State Government Whip, Rayadurgam MLA Kapu Ramachandra Reddy’s chances of getting a ticket seem slim.
Class war in Rayadurgam..
In the background of allegations of corruption against the MLA’s family members, the idea is to bring a new person into the ring. As there is a large number of Valmiki Boyas in Rayadurgam, there is a strong campaign that Anantapur MP Talari Rangaiah will contest from Rayadurgam.
Former Minister Penugonda MLA Shankar Narayana is unlikely to get a ticket this time. In Penugonda, the YCP was split into two factions due to internal fighting. This time Shankar Narayana has openly said that he will work for another party if ticket is allotted to him. As Kadiri constituency has the largest number of Muslim voters, the YSP leadership is looking to allocate tickets to Muslims this time. There is some opposition to the current Kadiri MLA Sidda Reddy.
MLA Jonnalagadda Padmavati’s ticket in the upcoming election is being broadcast loudly. The administration is thinking of allotting ticket to newcomers from Singanamala this time. A campaign is going on that Singanamala ticket will be given to a DSP working in Chittoor district. Madakasira MLA Tippe Swamy’s own party leaders are demanding the party leaders not to give ticket this time. It seems that the administration has been told that if they give the ticket again, they will surely lose. Some members of YCP say that party leaders have decided to allocate ticket to another person in this background.
In view of the political developments taking place in the district, it remains to be known whether all of them will be given tickets in the next election or will contest from another place. As Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy started purging the party by giving tickets to the winners, the MLAs were worried about whether their position would be solid or not.
