Fraud Loan Apps Removed: Researchers from leading research firm ESET (ESET) have found 17 loan apps on Google Play Store that are stealing people’s personal data. These apps claim to be genuine loan apps. Google Playstore removed these apps based on this report. People are using these apps in other countries including India. If you are also using these apps then delete them immediately. 12 million people have downloaded these apps so far, according to eSet researchers.
ESET researcher Lucas Stefanko, who has uncovered several Spylone apps, says fraudsters target people who trust loan apps through these apps. He said that they use wrong methods to cheat people and get their personal information. Investigators said these people used to blackmail people and even make death threats through loan apps. Mainly these apps are operating in Mexico, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, India, Pakistan, Colombia, Peru, Philippines, Egypt, Kenya, Nigeria, Singapore.

In some circumstances only five days are given to repay the loan instead of 91 days. The annual cost of borrowing (TAC) ranges between 160 percent to 340 percent. It’s also too much. These apps ask users for various permissions to access information saved on the device while downloading these apps. So be careful before giving permission to apps. Also, if you have these 17 fraudulent loan apps blocked by Google on your phone, delete them immediately. Otherwise there is a risk of your data going to them.
