Actions of TTD are against Section 111 of Debt Act.. Rs. The counsel for the petitioner told the High Court that Srivari’s amount of one hundred crores was diverted to the Tirupati Municipal Corporation. He said that funds were never diverted to Titi in the past.
Tenders can be finalized but no release of funds!
After hearing the arguments, the court issued an interim order not to release funds for sanitation works. It has been clarified that the tender process can be continued but the funds should not be released. TTD and Tirupati Municipal Corporation have been directed to file a counter within two weeks. Further hearing was adjourned for two weeks.
Annually Rs. Agreed to release one hundred crores
It has recently been decided that the funds of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam will be used for sanitation works of roads and colonies in Tirupati Corporation. EO said that Rs.100 crore should be spent annually and tenders were called for the management of the works. A tender notification was issued on November 22 this year for sanitation works. December 7 is the last date for receiving bids. The bids are likely to be finalized in the board meeting on December 16. Bhanuprakash Reddy approached the High Court to stop this process immediately.
TTD has given similar orders in the past and withdrawn it after a PIL was filed in the court
The TTD is run depending on the donations and funds given by the devotees. The funds have to be spent as per Section 111 of Devadaya Act. The money should be used for the maintenance of TTD, welfare of devotees and Hindu dharma. Cannot be diverted to other needs. A PIL was filed in the High Court after the EO had previously approved the release of Rs.10 crores from TTD for the beautification and lighting of the 200 feet road leading from Tirupati to the airport. TTD withdrew this decision pending litigation. After the High Court stayed the release of funds in this order, interest arose as to what TTD was going to do.
Earlier, a resolution was passed to allocate one percent of TTD funds for the development of Tirupati. The government did not agree due to political uproar. The opposition is criticizing that they are spending like this.
