Telangana Women Response on Mahalaxmi Scheme: Free travel for women in Telangana RTC buses has been made available from Saturday afternoon. CM Revanth Reddy, Deputy CM Bhatti Vikramarka, in the presence of ministers and officials launched the scheme of providing free bus service to women in the name of ‘Mahalakshmi’. To this extent, women irrespective of their age can travel free of cost in Pallevelugu, ordinary and express services across the state. Women Ministers Sitakka and Konda Surekha waved the green flag in the Assembly premises and started free bus travel. The CM unveiled the zero charge poster regarding this scheme. All women are advised to utilize this opportunity. Collectors have started this scheme in respective district centers.
Zero ticket if you show ID
Under the ‘Mahalakshmi’ scheme, women can get the facility of free travel in buses without any ID card for the first week. After that, the government said that proof like Aadhaar will have to be shown. If the identity cards are shown to the conductors for verification during the journey, they will immediately be granted a zero ticket. The government has clarified that there are no restrictions on the scope of travel under this scheme. Free travel is applicable only within Telangana for inter-state services. Meanwhile, in the wake of the launch of the scheme, CM Revanth Reddy along with women ministers, officials and other women traveled in the free bus service.
The joy of women
Women are happy about the free bus travel ‘Mahalakshmi’ scheme. Students and general workers say that the free bus service is a boon for them. Those who earn Rs.15,000 to Rs.20,000 per month spend about Rs.2,000 on travel, and at such a time, it is a right decision for the government to implement free travel under this scheme. Women and students were seen rioting in most of the RTC buses today. There has been an increase in traffic in the rural light and express services. However, as the number of buses is less, there is a possibility of difficulty in traveling and the women want to increase the bus services to ensure that there is no problem.
