The time has come for 119 newly won MLAs and President in Telangana. The Telangana Assembly is going to meet for the first time on Saturday at 11 am. MIM MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi will administer oath to the newly elected members of the Assembly as Protem Speaker. However, Goshamahal BJP candidate Rajasingh has announced that he will not take oath if Akbaruddin is the pro-tem speaker.
The first session of the Telangana Assembly will be held for four days. Assembly sources said that the first day’s meetings will include oath-taking of newly elected members, election of Speaker, Governor’s speech and vote of thanks. For the total of 119 constituencies, a total of 51 people are going to step into the assembly for the first time on behalf of all the parties. Among them, three are women, eight are from Karimnagar district and two are elected for the first time from joint Medak district. It is remarkable that 18 of the 51 people are making their debut in active politics.
The Protem Speaker will be sworn in by the newly elected 119 MLAs on the first day of the meeting. The assembly secretary has issued a notification nominating AIMIM senior legislator Akbaruddin Owaisi as the pro tem speaker to conduct this programme. In this context, Governor Tamilsai Soundarya Rajan was sworn in as Protem Speaker by Akbaruddin at Raj Bhavan. Along with Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, Cabinet colleagues, former Speaker Pocharam Srinivas Reddy, BRS MLA Harish Rao and others participated in this program. Usually senior members are entrusted with the responsibilities of Protem Speaker. As a part of this, Akbaruddin was asked to act as protem speaker and he agreed.
The first day’s meeting of Telangana’s third Legislative Assembly will begin at 11 am under the chairmanship of the Protem Speaker. Chief Minister Enumula Revanth Reddy and cabinet members will take oath first. After that, the elected MLAs take oath in alphabetical order of the Telugu alphabet.
If this is the case, in the 119-member Telangana third assembly, the ruling Congress won 64 MLAs and the ally CPI one each. BRS 39, BJP 8 and AIMIM 7 members won. After the ruling Congress, the BRS, which has the largest number of MLAs, is likely to get the opposition status. In this order, the stage was set for the unanimous election of the leader of that party and former CM KCR as the leader of the BRS legislative party. To this extent, 38 MLAs elected to the Legislative Assembly on behalf of BRS met at KCR’s farmhouse.
The notification regarding the election of the Speaker of the Assembly will be issued on Saturday evening after the swearing in of the newly elected legislators. The Congress party has already nominated former minister Gaddam Prasad Kumar, who was elected from the Vikarabad constituency, as the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly. Party sources revealed that he will submit his nomination in the presence of CM Revanth Reddy and the cabinet on Saturday evening.
On the second day, Sunday, the process of election of the Speaker of the Assembly will take place. There will be an inauguration ceremony for the speaker immediately after the election. After that, the assembly meetings will continue under the chairmanship of the new Speaker. State Governor Tamilisai Soundaryarajan will address both the Houses on the third day of the Assembly sessions on December 11. The adjourned session will resume on December 12. On the fourth day of the meeting, the House adjourned indefinitely after the vote of thanks for the Governor’s speech.
