A surprise inspection of the companies at Austrika Healthcare in Bollaram revealed fake dates. Officials have seized fake medicines worth around four and a half crores. Searches were also conducted at Astrica subsidiary companies in Bollaram, Keesara, Nacharam and Medchal.
The drug control officials were alerted by the information that fake cancer drugs were being made and sold in the market. DG Kamalasan Reddy ordered surveillance. It has been found that fake medicines are being supplied by post and courier. If copied based on the invoice, the address is found in Alwal. But on inquiry it was found to be a wrong address. DCA officials identified the courier boy who was delivering fake drug stock. If he is detained and asked..the detour has moved.
During the search, fake medicine worth four and a half crores was seized.. Astra Generics Pvt Ltd, Astraka Healthcare Pvt Ltd Median Biotech Pvt, Alliance Biotech, Sunvet Healthcare, Salus Pharmaceuticals, DM Pharma Pvt. Ltd., Safe Parenterals Pvt. Ltd., Bless Pharma India Pvt. Medicines with labels bearing the name of Ltd. were seized. These include companies from Himachal Pradesh and Andhra Pradesh. Many of these companies have had their licenses revoked. However, they are making fakes all the time.
DG Kamalasan Reddy congratulated the drug control officers and staff who broke the racket of fake medicines. A case has been registered and investigation is underway. Whose hand is behind these? He said that a comprehensive investigation will continue if this scandal has been going on for many years. The absconding director of Astrica will be arrested soon.
