Armour, April 1: The embankment of the Nizamsagar canal broke in the early hours of Monday (April 1) at Armur in Nizamabad district. Due to this, the water entered the journalist’s colony which is adjacent to the canal. In the middle of the night, the residents of the colony were shocked as the water suddenly entered their houses. Not knowing what happened, they ran out. As the canal broke, water poured into many houses in the colony. The belongings of many houses were washed away by the water flow. All the streets were flooded. Electricity poles also fell due to the flow of water. Due to this, electricity supply was also stopped in that area.
Locals are expressing their anger that the cause of the canal embankment being broken is the negligence of the irrigation authorities. The residents of the colony are demanding immediate relief measures. Irrigation officials immediately reached the spot and started rescue operations. With the help of JCBs, efforts are being made to dig up the soil and restore the embankment. Meanwhile, through the Nizamsagar project, water is being released to the ponds for drinking water and cultivation of crop fields. But at that time the irrigation authorities have to clean the canal.

However, the authorities in Armor region shied away from doing anything. As a result, the main canal has become a cesspool. It was littered with large amounts of garbage. In this order, the project officials released water into the canal. Due to this, the embankment of the canal broke and the water flowed into the colony. The residents of Armur complained to the authorities several times that the canal should be cleaned, but the locals are angry.
