The Election Code came into effect immediately after the Central Election Commission released the schedule for the Lok Sabha elections. The bureaucracy has come under the complete control of the EC. The Election Commission has ordered the removal of posters of political leaders from government offices and buildings after the election code of conduct came into force. EC officials have issued orders for removal of hoardings and cutouts of political advertisements. He made it clear that rules are necessary in the vicinity of the secretariat, government offices and public places. The EC officials have already hunted down a VRO who violated the election code after warning that action would be taken if the volunteers participated in the election campaign. On the other hand, in the background of the Election Code, the EC has kept a strong vigil in the Telugu states. Check posts have been set up near state borders and all district borders. Officials have made it clear that cash, alcohol, gold and silver will be confiscated if they are moved without proper evidence and receipt. EC officials have warned that strict action will be taken if money is smuggled to influence elections. Police inspections will continue. Elections will be held on May 13 in Telugu states on the same day. The results will be out on June 4.
