Suhas and Saranya Pradeep starrer Ambajipeta Marriage Band Review: Suhas career started from short films. Later came into movies. At first he did some films as a friend of the hero. He received success as a hero with ‘Color Photo’ and ‘Writer Padmabhushan’. In between, he played a villain role in ‘Hit: The Second Case’. Suhas’s latest movie is ‘Ambajipeta Marriage Bandu’. Shivani Nagaram is the heroine. Sharanya Pradeep, Nitin Prasanna and ‘Pushpa’ fame Jagadish Pratap Bandari in lead roles. How is this movie?
Story: Malligadu (Suhas) and Padma (Sharanya Pradeep) are twins. Father has a salon shop. While Padma is a school teacher… Malli is a member of the Ambajipet marriage band troupe. Along with coconut and cement businesses, Venkata Babu (Nithin Prasanna) gives loans at high interest. As he said that Padma’s job became permanent and she goes to him every Sunday to write accounts related to businesses, a rumor arises in the village that there is an illicit relationship between the two of them. Meanwhile… Padma and Venkata Babu’s younger brother Srinu Babu (Vinay Mahadev) get into a fight as they are told not to put cement bags in the classrooms. In addition to the quarrel, Venkata Babu comes to know that the younger sister Lakshmi (Shivani Nagaram) is in love with Malli.
Venkata Babu, who thinks to touch Malli and Padma as less human than them…calls Padma alone to the classroom and insults them. What did Suhas do knowing the insult done to his sister? What did Venkata Babu actually do with Padma? Why did Malliki shave? On whose side did the people of the village stand in this conflict? What finally happened? You have to watch the movie to know.
Analysis: Raw & rustic movies are coming in Tamil in the background of human differences, caste conflicts and oppression. Films made by directors like Pa Ranjith, Vetrimaran and Mari Selvaraj have fans in our Telugu as well. Will such movies come in Tollywood? That means… ‘Rangasthalam’ and ‘Palasa’ appear. Another movie in that category is ‘Ambajipeta Marriage Band’.
The beginning of the movie is simple. A love story before rest. After a while, the interval card was going to fall… suddenly it took a turn. What follows is an emotional roller coaster ride. ‘Ambajipet Marriage Band’ is new to Telugu. Director Dushyant Katikineni has tried to tell a Tamil movie style story with commercial elements. First off love story is not new. But, the comedy worked out. From the pre-interval to the pre-climax, it was made to watch with interest. The writing is good. Some of the conversations are thought provoking. The scene between Sharanya and Gayatri Bhargavi is an example of that. Briefly told how some people are seen as low caste.
The names of the castes are not mentioned. But, the caste gap was clearly shown on screen. However… it would have been better if the relationship between the older sister and younger brother was explored more. It was not taken completely natural like Tamil directors. The commercialism in some scenes was a bit disturbing. Especially the climax. That actually seems a bit far-fetched. Didn’t deviate from the story. It is not difficult to imagine some scenes and screenplay. However, Dushyant has fully utilized the talent of the actors as well as the technicians.
Shekhar Chandra’s music is the biggest plus point of the movie. The background music is good along with the songs. Also, cinematography & editing too! Producers have spent well. It will appear on the screen.
Malligadu’s character Suhas’ difficulty is seen on screen. He shaved and said how much he loved the character. He showed that love in acting. At first he played a simple young man and a lover naturally. Later, he acted intensely as a younger brother who would go to any lengths for his elder sister.
Whistles and claps are guaranteed for Sharanya Pradeep’s performance. Especially the police station scene in the second half gives goose bumps. Sharanya is a power house performer. Her potential has yet to come with a breakthrough role of this magnitude. At one point, Saranya seems to be the real hero of the film. Another powerhouse in ‘Ambajipet Marriage Band’ is talented artist Nitin Prasanna. Venkata Babu brought life to the character. I can’t imagine anyone else in that role instead of him.

Shivani Nagaram impresses with cute looks and impressive acting. Her name can be added in the list of promising heroines. The breakup scene was well done. He proved that he can do emotional scenes well. Jagdish of ‘Pushpa’ fame has once again impressed with his good performance. Goparaju Ramana, Surabhi Prabhavathi, Kittayya and others have done to the extent of their respective roles.
‘Ambajipeta Marriage Band’ which started as a simple love story… gives an emotional high and sends home from theatres. It gives the message to treat man as man and respect him. Story, Message aside… Shekhar Chandra Songs & RR Superb. Suhas, Sharanya Pradeep and Nitin Prasanna acted brilliantly.
