Neuralink Chip in Human Brain: Another important step has been taken in the experiments of implanting an electronic chip in the human brain. Elon Musk, the founder of Neuralink, revealed on Tuesday that he successfully implanted a chip in a person for the first time. The man is said to be recovering fast. The start-up company ‘Neuralink’ was established in 2016 under the leadership of Elon Musk, the CEO of the Tesla company, with the aim of improving the direct connection between the human brain and the computer. Elon Musk said that its aim is to prevent diseases like Parkinson’s, including strengthening human energy. Musk revealed that this chip will help strengthen the technological relationship between humans and AI. ‘We implanted a chip in the human brain. The American ‘Food and Drug Administration’ (FDA) approved the ‘Brain Computer Interface’ (BCI) experiments in which the human brain directly coordinates with the computer in May last year. This chip has already been successfully tested in pigs and monkeys. Experts of ‘Neuralink’ company said that this tool has been revealed to be very safe and reliable. A monkey even played the video game ‘Pong’ with its help.
How does it work?
The Neuralink brain-computer interface (BCI) consists of an 8 mm diameter chip called ‘N1’. It has thin electrodes. They are only 20th the thickness of hair. A small part of the skull is removed and the ‘N1’ chip is implanted there. Thin electrodes are inserted into the brain. While there are more than 3 thousand electrodes in a chip, they are introduced close to the important parts of the brain. They are malleable and bendable. This does not cause any damage to the tissues inside. These electrodes detect the messages transmitted between neurons in the brain and send them to the chip. Electrodes on a chip monitor the activity of a thousand neurons. A total of 10 chips can be inserted into a person. After the chip is installed in the brain, this BCI sends and receives electrical signals from the brain and triggers accordingly. Converting them into algorithms that computers can analyze. Meanwhile, the battery in the chip is charged wirelessly. Hence the wearer looks normal. If the device is placed far from the brain, the signals cannot be accurately detected, so the company says it is implanted in the skull.
Even that company
However, experiments of this type are being carried out not only by ‘Neuralink’ company but also by other companies. In July 2022, a company called Synchron from Australia implanted this type of chip in a person from the US. However, the company revealed that they did not make any incisions in the skull like Neuralink.

The company Neuralink says that there are many benefits of such experiments of implanting a ‘chip’ in the human brain. Smart phones and computers can be operated directly without the need to touch it.

- The company claims that with the help of this chip, hormone levels can be controlled and depression can be avoided. It explains that communication can be enhanced with text or voice messages using the power of thought, and the technology can be used to draw figures easily.
