Protection by orders of High Court
Raghurama, who was involved in various cases due to differences with YCP chief and CM Jagan, stayed in Delhi for about four years. In this background, MP Raghuramakrishna Raju has recently filed a petition in the AP High Court seeking to provide protection to his hometown for Sankranti. In the petition, the lawyers on behalf of Raghuramakrishna Raju said that the police have already filed 11 cases against Raghuramakrishna Raju and there are chances of filing more cases. He was accused of being arrested by the CID officials and subjected to torture. He said that even now there are chances of false case and arrest again.
The counsel for the government argued that there was no need to investigate Raghuramakrishna Raju’s petition. He said that the provisions of 41A are applicable only if there are sections where the case is registered and punishment is possible within seven years. He said that no cases have been filed against him recently. However, after hearing arguments from both sides, the High Court said in its order that it should provide protection to Raghuramakrishna Raju and follow the guidelines given by the Supreme Court in Arnesh Kumar’s case following 41A. With this he came to his own constituency.
