In the 17th season of IPL, Kolkata Knight Riders broke their winning streak. Chennai Super Kings handed KKR their first defeat of the season. Along with Ravindra Jadeja and Tusshar Deshpande’s amazing bowling, captain Ruthuraj Gaikwad’s unbeaten innings of 67 runs helped CSK win by seven wickets against Kolkata Knight Riders. After losing two matches in a row, Chennai started winning again at their home ground. Unbeaten KKR suffered their first defeat of the season. Batting first in this match, KKR scored 139 runs for 9 wickets in 20 overs. After that, Chennai scored 141 runs for the loss of three wickets in 17.4 overs and won. Captain Rituraj Gaikwad scored the most runs for Chennai. Rituraj was unbeaten on 67 runs off 58 balls with the help of 9 fours. Shivam Dubey scored 28 runs off 18 balls with 3 sixes and 1 four. Darrell Mitchell 25, Rachin Ravindra 15, Mahendra Singh Dhoni remained not out with one run. Among the Kolkata bowlers, Vaibhav Arora took 2 wickets. Sunil Narine took 1 wicket.
Before that, Chennai won the toss and invited Kolkata to bat. Chennai bowlers scored only 139 runs for 9 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. Shreyas Iyer scored 34 off 32 balls for Kolkata Knight Riders. Sunil Narine scored 27 runs and Angkrish Raghuvanshi added 24 runs. Tushar Deshpande and Ravindra Jadeja took 3 wickets each for Chennai.
