On October 21 last year, a full-term woman was admitted to the gynecology ward of GGH. Her name is Alekhya. She was accompanied by an assistant named Lakshmi. She gave birth to a baby girl the next day after admission. But the baby was underweight. Lakshmi brought the baby to the pediatric ward. Lakshmi left before the baby’s doctors could explain the baby. After a while both Lakshmi and Alekhya left GGH together. With this, the management of the baby fell on the staff of GGH.
For the last five months, the hospital staff have been keeping a close eye on the baby in the pediatric ward. The low birth weight baby has now fully gained weight and is just like any other baby. But finding her mother is a challenge for the GGH staff. GGH Superintendent Kiran Kumar told the Kothapet police about this. With this, the police who entered the field started to identify Alekhya. The police have been hunting for her address for five months as they had to identify her only on the basis of her Aadhaar card. According to the Aadhaar address, the police did not find her there. With this, they continued to investigate whether she would board. But it took five months to locate Alekhya and bring her to GGH.
Finally, the police found Alekhya in Narsaraopet and brought her to GGH. The mother was shocked to see a healthy five-month-old baby. Realized the mistake and prepared to take the baby. She said that she left the baby in the hospital because she could not afford the medical expenses as the baby was underweight. Both the police and the hospital staff expressed their happiness and handed over the baby as they said that the financial situation has also improved.
