APPSC Group1 Exam: The preliminary examination conducted on March 17 for the filling of Group-1 posts in AP ended peacefully. A total of 1,48,881 candidates have applied for the Group-1 exam, out of which a total of 1,26,068 (72.55%) have downloaded the hall tickets. Among those who downloaded the hall tickets, 91,463 candidates appeared for the Paper-1 exam and 90,777 appeared for the Paper-2 exam.
Group-1 examination was conducted in 301 examination centers in 18 districts across the state. Paper-1 examination was conducted from 10 am to 12 noon and Paper-2 examination from 2 pm to 4 pm. A one minute rule was implemented for the exam. Candidates are not allowed to enter the examination center after the stipulated time. Prohibitory orders under Section 144 have been imposed in the examination centers to ensure that untoward incidents do not take place.
In Group 1 prelims examination, a candidate was caught by the authorities while copying with his mobile. An invigilator noticed and caught a candidate while copying with the help of a mobile phone at Quis Engineering College in Vengamukkapalem Road, Ongole. Despite thorough checks at the examination center, the staff blindfolded and took the cell phone inside. The invigilator noticed that while he was writing to the outsiders by calling and getting the answers. He was immediately caught and handed over to the police. The candidate is being interrogated by the police.
It is known that a notification has been released for filling Group-1 posts in AP. Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) has released a notification on December 8 for filling up a total of 81 posts. Online application process started on 1st January for Group-1 posts. Candidates with any degree qualification are eligible to apply for Group-1 posts. Eligible candidates can apply online till January 28. Screening (preliminary) test was conducted for filling Group-1 posts on March 17 as per announced schedule. Those who qualified in Group-1 prelims exam will be conducted in the next stage of mains exam.
Prelims Exam Pattern:
Preliminary examination will be conducted for total 240 marks. Questions will be objective mode only. Paper-1 has 120 questions-120 marks and Paper-2 has 120 questions-120 marks. 2 hours allotted for each paper. History and Culture (Part-A) in Paper-1; Questions will be asked from Constitution Polity, Social Justice and International Relations (Part-B), Indian and AP Economy & Planning (Part-C), Geography (Part-D). Mains exam will be conducted next stage for those who qualify the prelims exam.
Mains exam pattern
There are total 5 main papers in mains exam. Apart from these, there will be Telugu and English papers as well. But these are only qualifying tests. The mains exam will be conducted for a total of 750 marks with 150 marks per paper out of total 5 papers. Candidates who qualify the mains examination will be interviewed for 75 marks and shortlisted candidates will be considered for a total of 825 marks. 180 minutes (3 hours) allotted for each paper. Mains exams will be conducted in descriptive mode.
