Hero Vishvak Sen has proved his talent as a director by acting as a carafe for various films. His latest movie is ‘Gami’. The movie started six years ago and the shooting was done under harsh conditions. There are good expectations among the audience. Especially the trailer of ‘Gami’ has taken the expectations to sky. And did ‘Gami’ meet those expectations? How was the movie?
Story: Shankar (Vishwak Sen) is an Aghora. When touched by a man, his body undergoes strange changes. Shankar does not even remember how this problem came to him and what is his past. In order to get rid of his problem, he has to consume a special flower called maliptralu, which grows in the Himalayas once in 36 years.
On the other hand, experiments are being conducted on humans on the border between India and China. CT 333 (Mohammed Samad) is a test subject trying to escape. Another story is about a Devadasi named Durga (Abhinaya) and her daughter Uma (Harika) in a village in South India. What happened to these three stories in the end? Has Shankar overcome his problem? Did CT 333 escape from there? You have to watch the movie to know that.
Analysis: One criticism is always heard that new type of films are not coming in Telugu as much as in Tamil and Malayalam. The correct answer is ‘Gami’. The movie starts very slow. Viswaksen takes about 15 to 20 minutes to explain the problem. But when they leave for the Himalayas, the movie picks up speed.
The story that takes place in the background of experiments on humans is very interesting. The experiments on CT 333 and his attempts to escape from there are interesting. The story of Abhinaya and his daughter Uma is the core point of this movie. Visually ‘Gami’ is a marvel. The cost of the film has nothing to do with the visuals on the screen. The scenes in the backdrop of the Himalayas are amazing. Especially the lion sequences in the climax. The last 30 minutes are the highlight of the movie. The twist reveal is also impressive.
Cinematographer Vishwanath brought the film to life with his camera. The visuals in particular have a level of ‘gami’ that has been talked about for a long time. Naresh Kumaran’s background score is another highlight of the film. The scenes are well elevated. The Shivam song at the climax gives goosebumps.
And when it comes to actors… Shankar’s role was brought to life by Vishwaksen. His performance in emotional scenes is amazing. Mohammed Samad played the role of CT 333 and Harika played the role of Uma. They are the main characters in the movie after Vishvak. Chandini Chaudhary is another character who is there from the beginning to the end of the film. Chandni does well in the climax, the first scene after the interval. Abhinaya also impresses as Durga. She gave a good performance in the role of a helpless mother.
Overall… ‘Gami’ is a must watch for those who want to watch new type of movies and love adventurous movies. The movie is a bit slow but overall gives a good experience.
