Women’s Premier League 2024: The second season of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) will be played in Bangalore and Delhi. The league stage matches are planned to be held at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore. Playoff matches can be held at Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. The tournament starts from February 22 and will continue till March 17. The first season of the tournament was held in 2023. It was won by Mumbai Indians Women.
Tourney in caravan model..
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is planning to conduct the second season of the WPL under the caravan model. 20 league stage matches will be played at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru in the caravan model. After that, the teams that qualify for the playoffs will go to Delhi. Eliminator and final match will be held at Arun Jaitley Stadium.
A chance to be held in different states in the same state.
According to reports, the BCCI is considering holding the second season of the Women’s Premier League at different stadiums in the same state. Because holding the matches in a single state makes management easier.
BCCI took 2 options for Maharashtra and Gujarat. But, all the matches in season 1 were played in Mumbai. So, it is not hosting this time. However, the capacity of the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad was too much for the tournament. Therefore BCCI left these two stadiums and finally agreed on Delhi and Bangalore. However, BCCI is yet to confirm this venue.
The venue of the matches is also not finalized.
BCCI is yet to decide how many matches will be held at the two venues. However, it is believed that all the league stage matches will be played in one city and two playoff matches in another city. In the first season, all the matches were played at the DY Patil, Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai. After that there were 20 matches in the league stage and 2 matches in the playoffs.
A chance to end the tournament before IPL..
This time also BCCI hopes to finish the second season of WPL before IPL. Because, there are problems in ground and management in organizing two tournaments together. Due to the Lok Sabha elections in India, IPL dates are not fixed. Hence, the WPL dates are also yet to be decided.
Due to the Lok Sabha elections, it is expected that the IPL may also be organized in the caravan model. The tournament was also held in Caravan model in 2020, 2022 during Corona period.

Mumbai Indians won the first season title of Women’s Premier League. The team defeated Delhi Capitals in the final. Then the UP Warriors team is in the third position. Meanwhile, the teams of Royal Challengers Bangalore and Gujarat Giants were eliminated in the league stage.
