Swami Vivekananda Jayanti speech: National Youth Day is celebrated on January 12 every year to honor the ideas and ideals of Swami Vivekananda. “My salutations to the honorable principal, teachers and all my friends here on the stage.
Today we are here to celebrate the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, a great thinker, visionary, young ascetic, inspiration and role model for the youth. I salute the spiritual master of India. Friends! Along with Swami Vivekananda Jayanti, National Youth Day is also being celebrated across the country today. Millions of youth have been inspired by Swami Vivekananda’s teachings and ideas. His words inspire the youth. Vivekananda’s lively and powerful speech awakened the minds of the people. That is why the Government of India has been celebrating his birthday as National Youth Day since 1985 for 38 years.
Born in a wealthy family, Swami Vivekananda was very intelligent and inquisitive from childhood. Even his teachers were impressed by his mental state. He was curious to know about God. When his parents asked him to get married, he replied that he was looking for God, not for a wife.
After meeting Ramakrishna Paramahamsa he turned towards spirituality. After accepting Ramakrishna as his spiritual master, he became known as Swami Vivekananda. He is the epitome of power. He started a spiritual revolution. After the death of Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa, Swami Vivekananda toured all over India. Also, he propagated Indian philosophy and philosophy in western countries and spread the fame of India to the world.
His speech at the Chicago Synod in 1893 shook the world. When Swami Vivekananda started his speech saying ‘Brothers and sisters of America’, the assembly erupted with applause for two minutes. From that day the culture of India got recognition all over the world. At the age of just 30, Vivekananda taught the world brotherhood in Hinduism.
Famous people have said that there is no fear in Swami Vivekananda’s mind. He was completely freed from slavery. They used to say that the youth with iron muscles and steel nerves would change the country. Swamiji used to say, ‘Wake up young, don’t stop till you achieve your goal’. It is a great thing that we remember and pay tribute to him on the occasion of Youth Day. Let’s follow his wisdom, words and teachings and contribute to a developed India.
