Telugu states have reaped the harvest in Sarvekshan awards. In the list of clean cities, the cities of AP and Telangana have been awarded. Indore city in Madhya Pradesh has once again shown its strength. It has been ranked first in the list of the cleanest cities in the country for the year 2023. With this, it won the first place in Swachh Sarvekshan awards for the seventh time in a row. This year, along with Indore, Surat in Gujarat also got the first rank jointly. Navi Mumbai is ranked third in this list. Cities belonging to Telugu states got awards in the top ten. Visakhapatnam got the fourth position, Vijayawada the sixth position, Tirupati the eighth position and Hyderabad the ninth position.
President Draupadi Murmu presented the awards on Thursday. From April 2022 to March 2023, people’s awareness and participation on cleanliness were studied in 4 thousand 416 towns across the country. For this, Hyderabad has secured 8 thousand 601 marks out of 9,500 marks in three standard items like service level, certification and citizen voice and has stood at the 9th position in the country. Apart from that, it has earned 5 star status among garbage free cities. The cleanest city in the state has been confirmed as the first 5 star rated city in Telangana as well as water city. These awards are given by the Center every year as a part of Swachabharat Mission-Urban.
