Siddipet has a specialty in Telangana. It is also expanding as a tourism hub. Newly built parks are also providing a place for people from neighboring districts to relax. Such Siddipet got Swachh Sarvekshan award. According to Swachh Sarvekshan Awards 2023, Hyderabad has been ranked ninth in the list of cleanest cities with a population of more than one lakh. Along with the ninth rank, Greater Hyderabad has received a five star rating in sanitation. This is the first time that a Telangana city with a population of more than 1 lakh has received the Five Star certification. GHMC Commissioner Ronald Rose and district representatives received the awards in New Delhi on Thursday. Siddipet has won the national award for being the cleanest city in South India in the population category of 50,000 to 1 lakh. The awards are based on a survey conducted between April 2022 and March 2023 covering a total of 4,443 local organizations. According to this latest survey, GHMC scores 51 percent in Services, 26 percent in Certification and 23 percent in People’s Voice components.
Officials are happy that the city, which was ranked 275th in 2015, has entered the top 10 ranks in terms of cleanliness. Union Urban Development Minister Hardeep Singh Puri presented the award at a function held in New Delhi. Siddipet MLA and former minister T. Harish Rao, who expressed his happiness at receiving the award, congratulated the city residents and officials. Siddipet would not have been recognized as the cleanest city in South India if no one had cooperated. He praised the hard work of the officials and people behind this. Harish Rao said that garbage collection, disposal systems and cleanliness works in Siddipet are exemplary for the country. He said that this is a source of pride for all the people of Siddipet.
