Andhra Pradesh, January 02; The strike by Anganwadi workers in AP has become more intense. Anganwadi workers and helpers, who have been agitating for the past 22 days demanding that their problems be resolved, have accused the AP government of being careless. With the strike of Anganwadi workers and helpers, difficulties are arising in the distribution of nutritional food kits to nearly 30 lakh children, pregnant women and lactating women in the state. The state government and the leaders of the Anganwadi Employees’ Association held five rounds of talks but there was no result. In this order, the Anganwadis, who are raising the agitation in installments for the fulfillment of their demands, have called for a siege of the District Collectorates tomorrow. In this context, the AP government has responded.. The government has issued an ultimatum to the Anganwadis. They were ordered to end the strike and report to duty before January 5. Otherwise, she warned that departmental action will be taken. The Anganwadis have been asked to keep this in mind and join the duties as the infants and small children are suffering due to the strike.
Initially, out of the 11 demands of the Anganwadi staff, the government accepted four demands and released the GO. However, more than one lakh Anganwadi workers who are on indefinite strike are now specifically demanding that the government should give a clear guarantee on their main demand of salary hike and implementation of gratuities. The Anganwadi Sanghas are not ready to believe as the government has promised to promote all the mini workers as full-time workers but the GO has not been released in this regard.
They are protesting against the government in many forms. They are besieging the residences of ministers and MLAs and presenting petitions. People’s representatives are being deposed everywhere in government programs. On the other hand, they also ignored the government’s request to join the duties. They made it clear that they are not going to join the duties until their demands are resolved. At the same time, the government imposed a deadline for them. She decided that the salaries could not be increased. The matter of gratuity is not within their purview.
After several discussions with the Anganwadi staff and workers, but without any result, it finally issued a warning to the Anganwadi Sanghas. She decided that she should join the duties by the 5th.
