The state government once again held talks with the Anganwadi unions who are on strike demanding an increase in Anganwadi wages. The latest negotiations failed. Minister Botsa Satyanarayana held a meeting with the representatives of CITU, IFTU and AITUC Anganwadi Sanghas on Tuesday evening. In this meeting, CS Jawahar Reddy, State Government Adviser Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy and others participated in these discussions.
In this meeting, Anganwadi groups demanded to implement gratuity to Anganwadi workers and increase their wages. The state government has decided that there is no situation to increase wages in view of the current financial situation of the state. The Committee of Ministers said that the government does not have funds to increase the wages of 1.64 lakh people and will think about it after the general elections. The Committee of Ministers has suggested seeking a High Court order for implementation of gratuity. Minister Botsa asked to discuss this issue once again after the Sankranti festival and call off the strike till then. The Anganwadi Sanghas have decided that there is no way to end the strike until the wages are increased and the gratuity is implemented.
Minister Botsa Satyanarayana spoke to the media after the meeting. “Our government is biased towards women,” he said. He said that the Anganwadi Sanghas have been asked to take some time to increase the wages. We will discuss it again after the festival. Botsa Satyanarayana said that the Anganwadis are positive towards our appeals. Anganwadi strikes are causing problems for children. Meanwhile, Anganwadi leaders said that they will besiege the residences of MLAs from Wednesday across the state. CM should take initiative and fulfill our demands. We will raise our concern as per the decision of the state committee. We will besiege the District Collectorates on January 3. said the representatives of Anganwadi Associations.
