High Court Judgment on Police Recruitment: The important judgment of the High Courts regarding police appointments in Telangana has been revealed. The High Court has upheld the GIO brought by the government amending the NCC quota rules in the recruitment process for the posts of Stipendiary Cadet Trainee, SI, Fire Department, Deputy Jailer etc. The High Court dismissed the petitions challenging the NCC’s reservation in police appointments by giving equal preference to all certificates instead of A, B and C certificates and giving 3 per cent reservation.
The three candidates have filed separate petitions challenging the government’s amendment GEO 14, treating A, B and C certificates equally in NCC. A bench consisting of Chief Justice Alok Aradhe and Justice T. Vinod Kumar took up the investigation and gave the verdict.
According to various judgments issued by the Supreme Court, the authority to determine the eligibility of NCC certificate holders is within the scope of recruitment boards.
The High Court said that it is not proper for the petitioners to raise objection that the recruitment process of 2015 was not followed as it was clearly mentioned in the notification under the special category of NCC reservations. The NCC revealed that ‘C’ certificate will be preferred over ‘B’ certificate and similarly the Union Home Ministry circular to give preference to ‘B’ over ‘A’ is only advisory. However, the High Court bench ruled that the petitions were rejected after finding that the petitioners had failed the preliminary and physical event tests.
